Designed and built to withstand a Category 5 Hurricane, the property boasts infrastructure that would be discarded today as too expensive and over-engineered. But this was IBM, and there was no expense spared and the phrase "over-engineered" was not part of the designers' lexicon.

  • Foundation:
    Poured Concrete Slab.
  • Framing
    Pre-cast tees with concrete fill, pre-cast concrete, large freestanding cast concrete piers & steel frame with concrete tees.
  • Floors:
    Concrete sub-floors.
  • Exterior Walls:
    Concrete block and a recent re-cladding of single story building with hurricane resistant panel, glass, and mullion system.
  • Roof:
    Flat deck roof with waterproof membrane cover, consisting of 3-ply & 4-ply asbestos membrane built-up with tar and gravel, over a steel and concrete decking.  Roof was replaced in 2001.
